The Megatrends Security and Autonomous Driving are heavily pushing the car manufacturers to work on Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS required by EURO NCAP >2020).
Driver Monitoring summarizes various possible functions like automatic head and eye tracking, driver identification, drowsy driver detection, gaze tracking / distraction warning, etc.
Depending on the system it can be realized with:
- 2D IR camera together with 940 nm IR Emitter
- 3D indirect ToF camera with 940 nm VCSEL based illumination due to the fast rise and fall times needed.
- 940 nm to reduce red glow
